This policy explains how msl.org.uk uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read with our privacy notice.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. They can be essential for the site to work, or used to remember preferences or measure traffic. UK law (PECR and the UK GDPR) requires us to tell you what we use and, for non-essential cookies, to get your consent first.
What we use today
Until analytics and any marketing tags on the redesigned site are confirmed, this website uses essential cookies only. Essential cookies are needed for the site to function (for example security, load balancing or remembering a cookie preference). They do not require consent.
| Cookie / technology | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
msl_cookie_pref (and local storage key msl_cookie_consent) | Remember your cookie choice from the consent banner | Up to 12 months | Essential |
The host does not currently set its own session or security cookies on this static site. The only HTTP cookie we set is msl_cookie_pref (mirrored in local storage as msl_cookie_consent) so the banner remembers your choice.
We will update this table when new-site analytics (or other non-essential tools) are confirmed. Until then we do not use advertising cookies, social plugs-ins that track you, or analytics that need consent.
If we add analytics later
If we introduce analytics or similar non-essential cookies:
- We will update this policy and the privacy notice
- We already show a cookie banner; optional cookies will only be set after you opt in
- You will be able to change your mind
Do not treat any analytics vendor named elsewhere on the site as live until it appears in this table.
How to control cookies in your browser
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may stop some parts of the site working. Guidance for common browsers:
You can also use tools such as YourOnlineChoices for interest-based advertising industry opt-outs (relevant if we ever use advertising cookies).
